Essay about Making Advertisements Memorable to the Viewer
According to CBS news, approximately, 600 to 625 advertisements are exposed to one person in a day and about 272 of those are coming from the television, the radio, magazines, and newspapers. Even if a person is exposed to so many advertisements each day, person may actually notice less than 80 of them. The goal of advertisement is to convince customers to buy their products. So if the customers do not remember the ad after viewing it, the company just wastes their time and money. In order to be effective, an advertisement has to be memorable for the customers. So there are many creative elements in advertisements and I want to analyze about those elements in this paper. The advertisement that I choose is Kia Optima Alien ad. So this ad more focuses on curiosity and mystique by those s ettings that I mentioned earlier. In this advertisement, I also could find elements of masculinity that come from Tannenââ¬â¢s book You Just Donââ¬â¢t Understand. Before I start to discuss about masculinity elements, let me introduce author Deborah Tannen and her book You Just Donââ¬â¢t Understand. Deborah Tannen is a professor of linguistics at Georgetown University, and have published 22 books, half of them for scholarly audiences and half for general audiences. Three books have been New York Times best sellers and one of those three, You Just Donââ¬â¢t Understand, was on the New York Times best seller list for almost 4 years. She is expert at the verbal interaction between men and women. In this book You Just Donââ¬â¢t Understand, she analyzed what men and women seek from conversations: independence and intimacy. So this book will allow reader to have better understanding of different gender and how to communicate well with them.
